Lake Dardanelle State Park is proud to offer free winter lake cruises for the best chance of seeing our national symbol, the Bald Eagle. Many other spectacular birds will be in the area for viewing including American white pelicans, ducks, and snow geese. Please dress warmly, as temperatures and winds are more severe on the lake. In an effort to accommodate as many people as possible for our tours, we will be taking reservations. Call the visitor center at (479) 967-5516 to reserve your seat. We will begin boarding 15 minutes before the tour at the boat dock near the tournament weigh-in facility. Tours are weather dependent.




MOUNT NEBO'S HOTEL HISTORY

Before Mount Nebo was a state park, it was home to the luxurious Summit Park Hotel that catered to the upper class. With activities that ranged from evening balls to horseback riding, it was the premier place to spend the summer in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Join a park interpreter to explore the nooks and crannies of Mount Nebo's hotel history.

HIKE TO LOVER'S LEAP

Lover's Leap and the legend surrounding it is a part of the tradition of Mount Nebo State Park. Join a park interpreter to hear the legend of Lover's Leap, explore the history of Mount Nebo, and enjoy the breathtaking views from the Rim Trail. This hike will be moderately difficult. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Take a walk through Mount Nebo State Park's history with a park interpreter. Learn about the luxurious Summit Park Hotel that burned down in 1918, and explore the Civilian Conservation Corps' role in the development of Mount Nebo State Park in the 1930s on an easy walk on the road. Wear comfortable shoes.

COLOR WHEEL HIKE

Mount Nebo State Park is a great place for black bears to live, but you probably won't see these shy creatures. Join a park interpreter to explore how black bears live and how to spot signs of them.

Fern Lake, a popular place to spend time during the Summit Park Hotel era of Mount Nebo's history, sits at the Bench Level of Mount Nebo. Join a park interpreter to dive into some of the history surrounding Fern Lake and the Summit Park Hotel. The hike is approximately 1-mile long and will be strenuous. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.


RIVER VALLEY SUNSET SENSATIONAL

Meet Park Interpreter Carrie to watch the sunset from one of the most scenic and romantic overlooks in the park. This beautiful overlook has sat as a part of the park since the CCC built it in the 1930s. Many have come to watch the sunset from this spot, and you can join the tradition! The sun sets at approximately 5:39 p.m.
