Random Acts of Kindness Week at PCLS

Friday and Saturday, February 22-23, 2019 starting at 8:30 am

Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week with the Pope County Library! All week long, PCLS will be providing supplies for patrons to  show their appreciation to our nation's heroes. Create potentially life-saving paracord bracelets for our troops, or write a thank you letter to a veteran, new recruit, or a first responder like a fire fighter, paramedic, or member of law enforcement! Letters should start with a generic salutation, such as “Dear Hero” or “Dear Brave One.” We will also be collecting small stuffed animals and beanie babies for care packages. OCC Trail maintenance day

This is the final phase of trail work for the new bridge on OCC Trail.  Work involves trail shaping, building berms and creating rad flow lines.  This work involves mostly shoveling and raking.  Hoping for minimum of 8 volunteers with no maximum.  Lunch will be provided by Quiznos.

Neighbor's Table

All are welcome to attend this no pressure, no questions asked free lunch. Doors open at 11:30am. Fresh coffee is served and then lunch is served at 12pm to 1pm.

In addition to the wholesome and delicious hot FREE LUNCH  served two other offerings for our Neighbors are now available:
Guests who come for lunch can now pick up a sack lunch to take with them and have a second free meal; and, after lunch, there are usually “take-outs” available (and, as always, generous portions of “seconds” are served  before dessert.)
Also, the clergy and people of All Saints’ have begun a new “Loaves and Fishes” ministry, with Sunday morning offerings at the altar now including necessities like cereal, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, toilet paper,  toiletries, hand soap, and detergent.  The available items gifted each Sunday will be distributed on the following Saturday to Neighbors Table guests after the meal.

The EfM group is sponsoring a Chili and Cinnamon Roll Lunch fundraiser on Sunday, February 24. Lunch will be served following the 10:30 service and take-outs will be also be available. A contribution of $8 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, with a maximum of $25 per family is suggested. Cinnamon rolls by the pan will also be available for $12 per pan. The Arkansas River creates many recreational opportunities for us to enjoy. Join Lake Dardanelle State Park staff for O.W.L.S. (Outdoor Women Learning Skills), a program series designed to give ladies the opportunity to explore the available recreation at Lake Dardanelle and the surrounding area, by learning skills and knowledge needed to enjoy nature. The series is one evening a month for 6 months, you can come to one or come to them all. Each month we will cover a new topic. Pre-registration is required for each date and includes dinner.

Take a hike through Mount Nebo State Park's history with a park interpreter! Learn about the luxurious Summit Park Hotel that burned down in 1918, and explore the role of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the development of Mount Nebo State Park in the 1930s. This 1-mile hike will be strenuous. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and bring water.
