We'll be set up in the Alley for Christmas Pictures in the Alley during the Russellville Downtown Art Walk on Friday, December 7th from 5:30-8:30pm. There will be lots of wonderful artwork created by local artists on display and for sale at various locations throughout downtown during the event. What a great opportunity for an awesome Christmas gift! We'll be taking pictures ($5 as always with a 5x7 print included), and we'll also have our gallery next door to the Alley open with a variety of prints available depicting the natural beauty of Arkansas. Please come check us out. Just look for the large wooden owl guarding the entrance to the Alley. Pets are always welcome.

Dardanelle Christmas Parade With McElroy House

The McElroy House is participating in the Dardanelle Christmas Parade!! Title of The McElroy House Float: “Everyone is Welcome”

You’re all invited and encouraged to participate in any and every way. We would love as many walkers along with the float that we can get! Bring your dog along for the walk as well!! If you would like to bring candy to pass out along the way you are welcome to do so, but we will also have some for everyone to hand out. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Come show your support for our community with The McElroy House.

The parade is on Friday December 7th, from 5pm-8pm. Judging from 5:30pm-6pm. Parade begins at 6:30pm. Floats will line up on the Right Side of Merritt Park! Along with our Float we will have a "Caboose" Car that will ride behind us where we can all take turns resting and warming up for a bit before rejoining the crew!!

The 20’ trailer will be designed like the McElroy House Living room. A couple rocking chairs, maybe a cozy cloth chair from the house too! We would love to have people spinning and crocheting in those chairs! We will also have a music corner with the ability to play and sing live on our float!! So bring your instruments and singing voices! The parade will be about 30-40min, so we can get in 10 songs. If you would like to preform a song live please let us know in advance so we can add you to the lineup! We would also love for the kids to read books from our free library! Another corner will represent our community garden. With plants, dried herbs, seeds and tinctures!

We are going to represent who we are and what we have to offer at the McElroy House!! When we all come together we create great things!! ONLY RULE IS THERE ARE NO SANTAS ALOWED!! NOT EVEN CUTE DOGGY SANTAS!

Guests who come for lunch can now pick up a sack lunch to take with them and have a second free meal; and, after lunch, there are usually “take-outs” available (and, as always, generous portions of “seconds” are served before dessert.)
Also, the clergy and people of All Saints’ have begun a new “Loaves and Fishes” ministry, with Sunday morning offerings at the altar now including necessities like cereal, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, toilet paper, toiletries, hand soap, and detergent. The available items gifted each Sunday will be distributed on the following Saturday to Neighbors Table guests after the meal.

Lake Dardanelle State Park’s diverse habitats provide homes for many creatures large and small. Join a park interpreter in the kid’s corner of the visitor center as she tells you about some of the smaller creatures. She will also be feeding these creatures; so come discover the small native wonders we have around us.

Lake Dardanelle State Park is proud to offer free winter lake cruises for the best chance of seeing our national symbol, the American bald eagle. Many other spectacular birds will be in the area for viewing including American white pelicans, ducks, and snow geese. Please dress warmly as temperatures and winds are more severe on the lake. In an effort to accommodate as many people as possible, we will be taking reservations this year. You will need to call the visitor center at (479) 967-5516 to reserve your seat. We will begin boarding 15 minutes before the cruise at the boat dock near the Tournament Weigh-In Facility. These cruises are weather dependent.

Build a Birdhouse Workshop

Join us in the visitor center Lakeview Room for a Build a Birdhouse Workshop as we celebrate the changes winter brings to Lake Dardanelle State Park as thousands of migratory birds make this area their home. A park interpreter will guide participants in constructing their birdhouses. Supplies are provided. The workshop is open to all ages, but space is limited. Registration is required for the workshop. Stop by or call the visitor center at (479) 967-5516 to sign up.

Are you looking for a healthy way to start your morning? Join a park interpreter on a leisurely morning hike on a portion of the Rim Trail to enjoy the nature of Mount Nebo State Park and to take in the beautiful scenery. This short hike will be moderately difficult. Make sure to bring water, and wear sturdy shoes.
