No appointment necessary, and pets are welcome. The December Art Walk is always a FANTASTIC event with lots of wonderful local art available at participating downtown businesses. The most celebrated outdoor light display in Arkansas for the holiday season opens at Garvan the Saturday before Thanksgiving and runs through New Year’s Eve (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas days). The Gardens will be aglow with over 4.5 million lights in a myriad of natural settings. Features include the luminescent Garden of the Pine Wind, the 50-foot tall Holiday Tree which plays holiday tunes animated to a light show, the Parterre garden on the Great Lawn, and traditional holiday scenes in the woodlands. Conclude your walking tour with free hot chocolate. The Chipmunk Café is open nightly until 9 p.m. serving soups, sandwiches, and snacks.
Holiday Lights is open when it rains; the Gardens closes in the case of inclement weather that would threaten the safety of visitors (lightning, ice, hail. high winds). Sorry, there are no refunds for closings.

Arkansas State Parks Events This Weekend
The Arkansas River creates many recreational opportunities for us to enjoy. Join Lake Dardanelle State Park staff for O.W.L.S. (Outdoor Women Learning Skills). This program series is designed to give ladies the opportunity to explore the available recreation at Lake Dardanelle and the surrounding areas, by learning skills and knowledge that they need to enjoy nature. The series will be from 6-9 p.m. one evening a month for 6 months, registration will be $30 per night.
See our aquarium exhibit! We have 8,000 gallons of aquariums, filled with many of the fish species found in Lake Dardanelle. Join park staff in the visitor center as they feed the fish live food. See for yourself – what’s for lunch?
Lake Dardanelle’s diverse habitats provide homes for many creatures large and small. Join a park interpreter in the kid’s corner of the visitor center as she tells you about some of the smaller creatures. She will also feed these creatures; so come discover the small native wonders we have around us.
By learning basic knot tying skills, you can learn to set up your campsite quickly and efficiently. Meet a park interpreter in the visitor center Orientation Room to learn how to tie a few basic knots that will come in handy on any outdoor adventure.
You can explore nature at this park because Lake Dardanelle State Park’s diverse habitats sustain many living creatures. Join a park interpreter in the visitor center Orientation Room for a fun game of Bingo and discover some of the creatures that call this area home.
Lake Dardanelle State Park is home to many interesting creatures due to its diverse habitat. Join a park interpreter at the amphitheater and venture down the Meadowbrook Trail. We will see who is out and about this morning.
Lake Dardanelle State Park is the perfect place to explore and investigate your surroundings. Pick up your list at the visitor center to go on a scavenger hunt to find some interesting things in the park. Bring a phone or camera to take pictures of your findings!
Skip the Black Friday crowds, and instead come to Mount Nebo State Park! The beautiful Rim Trail offers scenic views of the Arkansas River Valley. Participants will hike a portion of the Rim Trail with a park interpreter. This hike will be moderately strenuous. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. #GreenFriday
Join a park interpreter to take a hike and see if you can find everything on a scavenger hunt list. Keep your eyes open,m you never know what you'll spot! The park interpreter will provide the scavenger hunt list and necessary supplies. Wear sturdy footwear and bring water.
Fern Lake, a popular place to spend time during the Summit Park Hotel era of Mount Nebo's history, sits at the Bench Level of Mount Nebo. Join a park interpreter to dive into some of the history surrounding Fern Lake and the Summit Park Hotel. The hike is approximately 1-mile long and will be strenuous. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes.
Mount Nebo State Park is a great place for black bears to live, but you probably won't see these shy creatures. Join a park interpreter to explore how black bears live and how to spot signs of them!
Join a park interpreter, and pick a color! Take time to enjoy the great outdoors at Mount Nebo State Park, and try to find your chosen color on this moderately difficult hike. Wear appropriate shoes and bring water.
Join Park Interpreter Carrie to connect with trees in a whole new way. We will be sharing the stories of trees that can be found here in the park and make our own tree story.

Meet Park Interpreter Carrie to watch the sunset from one of the most scenic overlooks in the park. This beautiful overlook has sat as a part of the park since the CCC built it in the 1930s. Many have come to watch the sunset from this spot, and you can join the tradition! The sun sets at approximately 5 p.m.
See the park’s historic Mather Lodge dressed in it's Christmas finery. Enjoy family arts and crafts activities and seasonal entertainment. Contact the park for a schedule.
Join Park Interpreter Carrie to put your knot tying skills to the test. We will also be exploring the park through maps you can take on your adventure around the park. These new skills may just help you while out on the trails here at Petit Jean State Park.
